“Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land. My eyes will be open and my ears attentive to every prayer made in this place. For I have chosen this Temple and set it apart to be holy – a place where my name will be honoured forever. I will always watch over it, for it is clear to my heart.”
2 Chronicles 7: 14-16
The S.C.A. can be courageous and a solid foundation was laid this year. With a core of about 50 boys who attended every week, the scene has been set for great things to come. We’ve had guest speakers like Nick Blackburn who gave an inspirational message to ‘lift our shields’, lift our faith to serve God with love. We’ve shown DVD’s from Louie Giglio
(Indescribable, How great is our God and Passport), Rob bell and Angus Buchan, which gave us food for our souls and see a brand new dimension of Christianity. Some boys went to the Planet shakers concert where about 5000 people were jumping with their hands in the air praising the Lord. A new experience for some of them.
We would also like to thank Pastor Wayne Hopf from Durban Christian Centre for his efforts in the foundation course that he presented. All boys received books that were based on scripture that explained our faith in a basic way. Almost one hundred personalized books were printed for boys to study and learn about God.
“Anyone who drinks this water will soon become thirsty again. But those who drink the water that I give will never be thirsty again. It becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life.”
John 4:14
What if? What if those deep desires in our hearts are telling us the truth, revealing to us the life we were meant to live? God gave us eyes so that we might see; he gave us eyes so that we might choose, and he gave us hearts that we might live. The way we handle the heart is everything. A man must know he is powerful; he must know he has what it takes.”
“What can I give back to God for the blessing he poured out on me?
I will lift up the cup of salvation and praise the Lord’s name for saving me.”
Psalm 116:12-13
We would like to thank Mr. Brendon Liebenberg for co-leading the S.C.A. and helping it to grow. His efforts were greatly appreciated by all the boys.
Lastly to the boys, don’t ask yourself what Glenwood High School needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive, and go do that, because what Glenwood needs are people who have come alive.
