Swimming

The 2009 swimming season began with much optimism and expectations were high. The teams were keen to improve on last year’s performances and so most mornings saw the pool overflowing with swimmers trying to get in a few lengths before the day began.

Glenwood is most fortunate to have acquired the skills and expertise of two Old Boys, Shaun Ferreira and Dale Johnson, in coaching the teams.

Our first gala took place at DHS. Although our performances did not lead us to victory, there were signs of great improvement by many of the boys.

Midmar weekend proved to be true test of their dedication to this sport, with most of our boys taking part in the Westville invitational gala, the Allen Burt Top 10 Gala and the Midmar Mile.

Gibson House is once again the Inter-house Champions of the school. Glenwood competes in two prestigious competitions: the Durban and District’s Gala and the Top Ten Swimming Schools’ Championships. We have won this event in the recent past and at present hold 5th and 6th position respectively.
