Life Orientation continues to grow from strength to strength. Gone are the days of two or three educators simply discussing health care or study skills.
Life Orientation has grown into one of the largest departments within the school. Under the new curriculum (FET) it is an examinable and a compulsory subject, which is very exciting and relevant.
A wide range of topics are discussed; ranging from tertiary study options to religion and suicide. The objective of this department is not simply to expose the learners to various issues, but develop an understanding of the relevance that these play in their everyday life.
The new CAPS program has now been implemented from grade 10 until Matric and the updated curriculum is very exciting indeed. This will continue as the program is refined.
The Life Orientation department works closely with the Human Progress Management team. This is a company specialising in study skills, time management and career development. Many of the learners who join this program seem to improve greatly in their studies.
