GLENWOOD ART EXHIBITION - 2009
The Glenwood art exhibition, held on Tuesday night, 22 September 2009 at a prestigious cocktail party in the library, was the highlight of the year for the Gr 12 Visual Art boys.
This exhibition was the pinnacle of their art career at school, a platform where they could display work they have compiled over the last 3 years. These works showed their improvement in the use of materials, compositions, techniques and style.
The exhibition incorporated at least 4 works from their Gr 11 year and all the work they have done in their Gr 12 year. The boys were allowed to work in any genre and they had to choose their own theme, however Mrs De Beer did guide them with ideas for themes such as “Power”, “Surrealism” etc.
Mrs De Beer states that there were many highlights in the art department this year and the boys got a much better understanding of the meaning of the word, “work ethos”.
Lyall Lloyd-Evans was awarded the trophy for the most outstanding work.
Well done to all concerned and it is my intention for the School to purchase one art piece per year to frame and place on display in the Media Centre.
