Arts and Culture

The arts and culture lessons are offered by two experienced teachers. The boys from Grade 8 and Grade 9 are enjoying learning techniques and other integrations regarding the arts. These youngsters are exposed to learning about the cultures, modern technology, and the uses of resource materials, globalisation and other local and afro centric issues during their arts and culture lessons. They are also taught how to organise and keep visual arts diaries.

The Glenwood Community Forum Proms had to be moved to the School Hall last night due to the inclement weather. This certainly did not dampen the enthusiasm of the crowd and of the Durban City Orchestra! The Hallwas full and the evening went of successfully. Well done to all concerned. Excellent evening's entertainment. Long may it continue.

The annual School Play formed part of the Creativity Festival weekend and credit must be given to Mrs Hampton for producing a tight script for the young performers, and congratulations must certainly be given to the young actors and backstage crew. Special thanks to the front of house Staff and Parents.

The Headmaster's study had a couple of unusual characters burst in and try and take over. It was not striking workers thank goodness!

Winnie the Pooh and Tigger made a special appearance at school today just prior to the Creativity Festival that takes place this Saturday.

This must have been a 1st for the Headmaster's Study!

The Rainbow Young Performers presented the hit Broadway Musical 'Hairspray' at the Sneddon Theatre this year.

I really enjoyed the performance (again) and I always sit in awe when I see the talent that KwaZulu-Natal (and South Africa) has at its disposal.

I can recommend a visit to the Sneddon as soon as possible.

I found another interesting article on the upcoming film, Spud, in a magazine earlier today.

Personally, I cannot wait to see the final product on the big screen!

Glenwood boys, J Royal and B Langley receive good reviews in the article.

Daniel Brown of Form V was recently selected to represent the KZN Youth Choir. This is a first for Daniel despite being selected for the National Youth Choir in 2009. Well done Daniel.

It was wonderful to see another SPUD casting in the Daily News earlier this week. Tyronne Bright of Form IIB heard this week that he had won an opportunity to be part of the cast of SPUD alongside the other 2 Glenwood boys already cast.

Well done.

Glenwood boys, Jamie Royal (who will play Gecko) and Byron Langley (Simon) have been cast in the upcoming film version of the best-selling books, 'Spud'.

Rehearsals will start in March and will continue for 3 months.

Well done to the boys and I look forward to enjoying the film (with John Cleese in the lead role) as much as the books!
