BMX National Age Group Series (NAGS) April 2017

Connor Terblanche (15), took part in the BMX National Age Group Series (NAGS) over the Easter Weekend. The first three legs of the eight leg series took place at Germiston BMX Track in Johannesburg and is a series in preparation for the UCI BMX World Championships in July and National Championships in October.

Connor competed in the combined 15-16 year old Expert Class against Nationally ranked riders in both age groups. As a 7-time National Champion he had his work cut out to perform against a talented field.

On Saturday 15 April 2017 in the final of Leg 1, Connor was bumped off the track in the last turn to be relegated to 8th place whilst fighting for 2nd place. In Leg 2 Connor came back and won Gold in the Final, beating the current National Champion and SA ranked #2 rider in the U16 age group.

The following day, Connor again qualified for the Final and ended in third place winning Bronze.

Connor now has to prepare for the next 3 legs of the series, which will be taking place at Queensburgh BMX Track, early July and to represent South Africa at UCI BMX World Championships in Rockhill, South Carolina, USA, at the end of July.
