D&D Boys' Hockey Night League Final - 2010.

The D&D Boys' Night League final was held on Firday evening at Queensmead. Glenwood were the defending Champions and went into the final full of confidence against Northwood.

This confidence took a knock when, early on, a highly motivated and talented Northwood 1st XI struck first.

Northwood scored early on in the half, finding a weak point in Glenwood’s defence. Glenwood were then awarded a penalty in Northwood’s half. S. Sunkari made quick work of the penalty, scoring an excellent goal, and equalizing the score. However, Northwood struck back and scored another goal just before half time.

The second half was a fast-paced, and both teams were penalized heavily for errors made. Glenwood were given many opportunities, failing to capitalize on many short corners awarded. The second half saw no goals being scored and Northwood won the league. The final score being 1-2. Glenwood can be very proud of making it to the final of this league, and were unfortunate to take second place.

The Headmaster has spoken to the entire School and Staff on a number of occasions about complacency and leaving points on the field and this game was the perfect example of where a number of opportunites were carefully created but lacked the final spark to convert pressure to points.

Congratulations must go to Nortwood for excellent defence under pressure. Well done on winnin the trophy for 2010.

Hard work lies ahead for this talented Glenwood 1st XI  to protect their 65% win rate thus far in 2010, the School's Centenary Year.
