English Olympiad Website

During March 2008, Mark Atkinson of Form VIA, participated in the National English Olympiad along with 7 other pupils. This Olympiad involves studying an anthology including scripts of plays from both past and present generations. Learners were then required to write a 3-hour examination wherein they display their understanding and creativity through essay writing.

Upon receipt of the results, Mark was placed in the Top 100 scripts in South Africa. Considering the fact that there were over 5300 participants countrywide, this is a highly commendable achievement. The achievement carries even more weight within Glenwood High School, as the school has never before had a participant who has been ranked in the top 100 in South Africa.

Although Mark was not the recipient of any prizes, this is still a prestigious achievement for both him and the Glenwood Family. Well done Mark; an excellent achievement!
