1ST TEAM SOCCER VS GROSVENOR, MONDAY 11 JUNE @ DOKKIES, 3.30PM KICK OFF
Glenwood started their game against Grosvenor, who only pitched up with 10 men, well in control. Within five minutes Glenwood had a great build up down the right flank, Josh Gounden received the ball, turned on his left foot, and cracked a thirty yard shot that dipped over the keeper and rolled down the net. Glenwood kept pressing and were rewarded with a penalty, which Jordan Freshwater calmly slotted into the corner of the net, giving the keeper no chance. Many chances were created but not finished, however the play and commitment by all was commendable. Half time score 2-0.
The second half was a very indifferent half for Glenwood as they seemed to forget how to play soccer as they were giving passes away, missing numerous easy chances, and chasing the ball which totally messed up their shape. With this in mind the Grosvenor boys had one telling attack ,where a rasping shot was stopped by Junaid only to see the rebound fall to the same player, who made no mistake the second time. Full time score 2-1 to Glenwood.
The score was not a true reflection of the game as Glenwood dominated most of it but missed too many easy chances to score, however soccer is all about scoring more goals than the opposition no matter how well you play.
