Glenwood boys enjoy success over a busy weekend.

Many Glenwood boys were kept busy this weekend with a large number of activities taking place.

On Friday afternoon/evening the Softball teams dominated their opposition and ran out comfortable winners in all games. This means that all of the Glenwood teams are now in a final of some sort. These finals are planned for this coming Friday afternoon at Queensmead. The boys would certainly enjoy your support.

The Glenwood football teams have been playing all week against DHS teams and the 1st XI played under lights at DHS at about 19H15 on Friday evening. DHS have had a strong season with much emphasis being placed on the performance of their 1st XI. They had a good win over College the week before and so were expected to do well on Friday night against Glenwood.

The Glenwood 1st XI has got stronger every week and they showed true Glenwood guts of Friday night to win a tough encounter by 2 goals to 0. Well done to players and coaches for an excellent result in this, the last of the FNB Football Classic Clashes. I must remember to get the trophy from Mr Magner so that it can remain in our Trophy Cabinet until something like this happens again. On top of that, the other Glenwood teams enjoyed equal success with only two teams losing to DHS. Well done to all.

There was also an Athletics Meeting at Kings Park on Friday evening and a number of Glenwood boys were involved. One of the highlights of the evening was the 1st place for the Glenwood Team in the 4X100 relay where they beat a strong and confident Westville Team.

Saturday saw Cricket being played against Michaelhouse and the 1st XI enjoyed a hard-fought win over a strong and confident Michaelhouse XI. It was a close match and could have gone either way. On top of that, all of the A Teams also won and that is a fine achievement because it is not often that one can produce results like that against a strong cricketing school like Michaelhouse.

There was also waterpolo at a number of different venues and it was wonderful to see so many youngsters in action. Our teams did not fare as well as our other codes on the day but I know that they will get stronger as the season progresses.

I was also very impressed with the Tennis results against Kearsney and I know that it is not long before Glenwood dominates KZN Tennis once again. I am very impressed with this young team and particularly with young Myburgh who just seems to go from strength to strength every week!

In all, another good weekend for all of us. Thanks to all of the Staff involved.
