Glenwood High School offers three forms of Information Technology to the boys.
Computer Literacy is taught to the boys of Grade 8 and 9. All the application packages are covered. We use Microsoft Office as a platform because most of the world uses this Office Suite as standard software. We are also fortunate to fall under the Microsoft Schools agreement which supplies legal copies of Microsoft software to the school. These applications include MsWord, MsExcel, MsAccess and MsPowerpoint. Skills learnt here prepare the boys for most computer work that they will encounter in the future.
Computer Applications Technology is taught in Grade 10, 11 and 12 and develops the boys further in the field of computer literacy teaching them advanced skills as an end user. Theoretical knowledge about computer hardware and software is also tested.
Information Technology is also a Grade 10, 11 and 12 subject and includes most of the CAT theory syllabus but the practical component contains instruction in the Java language. This is a testing subject as the amount of attention and time required needs a dedicated learner.
Both CAT and IT prepare the boys very well for the demands of the IT world and makes the boys very employable with one of these subjects on their matric certificate.
Glenwood High School boasts two computer rooms which are regularly upgraded to standards required by an ever changing technology.
