Letter from the Chairman -Mr Graham Oberholzer

Hi All,

Firstly, a big thank you to everyone who made the effort to be a part of our 2010 Reunion Weekend, the turnout was fantastic and from the feedback we have received it seems that it was a most enjoyable occasion. The attendance at the dinner on the Friday evening surpassed our expectations and was 40% up on the previous year, and I think we underestimated the impact that this increase would have which resulted in a few problems on the night but overall it was a tremendous success.

Our guest speaker, Hugh Bladen, was very well received and thanks to Ed Hill and Gary Meyer for their assistance in securing his services for the evening on the eve of the all-South African Super 14 final. The dinner is not only a great occasion to socialise with old friends and to visit the school but also serves as an important fundraising event for the Old Boys’ Association, so thanks very much to everyone who supported the various causes on the evening and to Mike Bernon, Warren Donaldson and Duncan Turner for their generous successful bids on the auction.

Please remember the Centenary Dinner to be held at the Durban ICC on 13 August 2010 and I ask that you assist us in marketing this event so that we can ensure that the evening is a worthy celebration of the centenary of our great school. (See attached invitation)

This weekend our boys travel up to Pretoria to take on Affies in what should be a very competitive fixture, so if you are living in Gauteng please make an effort to come out and watch the teams in action. There will be a supporters’ bus travelling up from Durban and we are trying to arrange a get-together at lunchtime on the Saturday, so anyone who would like to join us please drop me an email.

Regards,

GRAHAM OBERHOLZER
