Music Academy

The Academy is a privilege for the school whereby students of a particular musical talent are able to engage in further tuition on their respective instruments. With the generation of a Guitar and Piano Academy, the school has begun to enjoy the fruits of their labour in performances at Old Boys Day, assemblies and Prize giving.

The Academy is a performance-based program which nurtures Glenwood’s musical talent through increased exposure within the school, for it is widely accepted that the more enduring lessons are learned under pressure. The boys meet twice a week during the 1st lesson of the day to exercise their skill by learning the music of the greats with a view to monthly performances. Encourage them with your applause; they’ve worked for it.

  Glenwood High School is proud of its young piano talent Ewan Slabber who has been selected to play at the Best Young Performer concert amongst the Philharmonic orchestra later in September. Only two pianists were selected so it is a great achievement considering Ewan is only in Form II at Glenwood.

Mr Stengel and his Team presented us with a most pleasing musical event on Friday afternoon.

 

It was wonderful to see young men playing musical insturments as well singing for the appreciative audience.
