NSC Results - 2009

The release of the NSC results has proven challenging this year and the late release has not worked for me personally. In the past, the results were on my desk between Christmas and New Year and I could give full focus to the analysis and anouncement of the results. This has not been the case this year and so I have been involved in the running of the school while also trying to analyse and announce the results. This report is being posted from Glengarry in the Berg as I am now involved with the training of the Prefect body for 2010. This has created tensions and has left gaps in the normal handling of the NSC results and hence I apologise if holes have been discovered.

The Matrics of 2009 have produced a mixed bag of results and I really do hope that each boy has attained his personal academic goals. I also hope that the results enable the boys to move on to the next stage of their lives in terms of further study.

4 Boys did not meet the requirements for an NSC and each of them has been advised on how best to aproach the task of passing their re-writes that come up in March of 2010. They will attend classes in the subject that they failed in order to give them the support to succeed. I wish them luck.

Nearly 80% of the boys achieved a Bachelors' Entrance.

The boys achieved 292 Subject Distinctions and this number will certainly increase as the re-marks start to come through in due course.

Our Head Prefect of 2009, Ruan Grobler, achieved 6 Subject distinctions with an 86% average. Well done Ruan! I stand to be corrected but he is already at UFS studying to become a Doctor.

The School's top candidate  for 2009 is M Iyavoo with a 91% average and 8 Subject distinctions. An outstanding achievement. Well done Mahesh. You and your family can be very proud of your achievments.

The following boys attained 5 or more subject distinctions:

M Iyavoo                 8 Distinctions

R Ramlall               7 Distinctions

R Moodley               7 Distinctions

L Thaver                  7 Distinctions

R Grobler                6 Distinctions

J Marais

Y Moonsamy

N Naraidoo

M Parkes

T Pillay

M Mkhwanazi

A Wilson                  5 Distinctions

K Bisseru

S Copley

S Dlamini

K Gounden

Y Kewalpershad

L Maphalala

K Pillay

Well done to the above candidates.

Life Orientation produced the most number of Subject Distinctions. The English Department produced the second most number of subject distinctions and then Mathematics and then History. Well done to the Teachers and boys involved.

Mr Pinheiro and Mrs McNeill are busy with a far more comprehensive breakdown of the results and they will be released in due course.

Well done to the class of 2009 and I look forward to seeing you in the future as you make your way through life. Good luck in all of your endeavours. A special vote of thanks must go to the Parents of the boys; without your genes and excellent support these results would not have been possible.

Thank you to the whole team at Glenwood; another good year has been achieved.

MATRIC RESULTS - 2009

At a meeting between the Examinations section of the Department of Education and  Principals earlier today, it was confimed that the boys can collect their 'statement of results' on Wednesday 6 January 2010 from school from about 11:00am.The official announcement on the results by the MEC for Education will take place on Thursday 7 January 2010.

Re-marks/re-checks must be applied for by the individual canddates at Truro House from 11 January 2010 until 22 January 2010. These matters are not dealt with by the school and therefore boys must be ready to applay for the above if required.

Supplementary examination information will be included with boys' individual results upon collection on Wednesday.
