ENGLISH DEPARTMENT MAGAZINE REPORT 2007

"The greatest good you can do for another is not just to share your riches but to reveal to him his own." (Benjamin Disraeli)
As English teachers we strive not only to impart our knowledge to our pupils but also to encourage them to reveal their individual talents and ideas to us through free expression in their writing, their unique responses to our lessons and the day-to-day challenges that we set them. Keeping this in mind this has once again been an exciting, challenging and interesting year for the Glenwood English Department. English will always be a subject that lends itself to awakening our pupils? inner talents, creativity and interests. The English department?s staff once again used their passion for the subject and their expertise to make this an exciting and productive year for all the English classes.

This year the English department began with a number of new members of staff. We welcomed Mr. Robert McDowell and Mr. Gregory Crowder to the department as well as Mr. Simon Anderson and Mr. Lance Duffield (formerly teachers-in-training). Mr. John Stengel also joined us as a teacher-in-training. We are delighted to have these new, enthusiastic teachers to the department and we know that they are going to prove to be invaluable to the department in the years ahead.
