Mr Kershaw encouraged the boys to believe in themselves without being arrogant. The Glenwood website has had 1,05 million hits from external sources. KZN had 1658 marking centres for the marking of Grade 12 scripts. There were 151817 registered candidates for the exam. 20 million A4 pages were copied – that is 133333 per day for 5 months or 222222 per day for 3 months.
Mr Kershaw commended the Gr 10’s on their Artwork in the Library which makes a statement and indicates that some genuine research was done for these projects. Glenwood entered a Grade 12 team consisting of R. Ramlal, M. Iyavoo and K. Bisseru in the Regional Mintek Quiz and we were placed 3rd in the First Round of the competition, 4th in the 2nd Round. K. Bisseru was placed 3rd and R. Ramlal 4th in the Individual section. K. Bisseru will be representing KZN at the National Finals in July.
Mr Kershaw stressed that Detention takes priority over other extramurals. No tracksuits to be worn whilst walking home. He stressed the moral issue of cheating, also that boys not at school on Friday cannot play matches on Saturday. Boys absent from school must catch up with their work.
Daniel Marques of Grade 12 and his partner took part in the Freedom Cup Latin and Ballroom Dance Competition and came first in both the Ballroom and Latin Beginners sections. B. Kenton and A. van der Merwe received a Silver Medal for Free Sparring and a Bronze Medal respectively for Free Sparring in the South African leg of the ‘World Funakoshi-Shotokan Friendship Championships’.
