Glenwood 1stXV vs. Kearsney

 

The Glenwood 1stXV took control in the first half of this match. Before half-time, Glenwood had managed to score 3 tries. Tries by D. Moolman, S. Mtshali and B. Axter-Burret, all converted by Glenwood flyhalf Fred Zeilinga, put Glenwood in a strong lead at half-time, 21-3, with Kearsney only converting a penalty kick.

 

The second half belonged to Kearsney, and they came firing out after half-time. Their backline ran in two tries, which were both converted by their outside center, putting the game at 21-17. With only four points in it, both teams fought hard, turning the game into a really exciting one. Glenwood managed to hold on, with the final result being 21-17, with Glenwood winning.

 

Glenwood 1stXI vs. Kearsney

 

The Glenwood 1stXI took on Kearsney at 3 Schools this morning. A brilliant goal off a short corner by Sumanth Sunkari put Glenwood in the lead early on in the game. The game proved to be very tight, with possession and territory shared equally by both teams. Glenwood kept their lead up until half-time, with the score being 1-0. The second half was no different, with both teams having good shots at goal. Sumanth Sunkari received a yellow card, leaving Glenwood one man down for a period of time. It was during this time that Kearsney scored the equalizer, to put the teams level. Some excellent goalkeeping by both sides left the game tied, with the final score 1-1.

 

Tennis

 

Glenwood’s tennis teams shone against Kearsney this morning, receiving some excellent results. Some very good tennis was played, and it is clear that some of our tennis players are destined for some great sporting achievements in the future.

 

                                                                                        Volleyball

 

The Glenwood volleyball teams competed once again in the Westville league on Saturday morning, at Westville Boys’ High. All the games were very close.

 

Chess

 

Glenwood beat Marist Brothers 8.5 boards to 1.5 boards. The matches took place in the Drama Studio on Friday Afternoon.

 

 

Targetshooting

 

Glenwood shot at Weston on Saturday morning. J. Pelser and D. Drumel took first and second position in the Springer class, and L. Texeira took second place, with an 80% score, in the Sporter class.

 

Badminton
