Sailing during the July holidays

On Friday 11 June 2010, Keegan Olsen (skipper), Dylan Stopforth and Bernard Bussy travelled with Mr Pet to Hartbeespoort Dam in a Nissan Livinia sponsored by Imperial Nissan to participate in the 2010 J22 Youth Nationals.  This regatta has been held for the past 16 years and this is the 6th time that the Glenwood boys have represented Point Yacht Club.  All in all 15 races were completed.  Although the team did score a few 3rd and 4th places, they did not finish in the points but did learn a great deal about sailing in light conditions and enjoyed the experience and made numerous new friends.

During the same time the IRC Provincial Championships were held off Durban.  Carl Zimmerman skippering the L26, B2G2, convincingly won this championship upsetting a number of seasoned sailors.  Although the fleet was small, B2G2 won a number of the races and Carl and his crew were awarded SASKZN IRC class gold medals.

During the last week of the holidays, the MSC Regatta was held off Durban.  This incorporated the KZN Provincial Championships for the L26 class.  Class Zimmerman again skippered B2G2 and finished in 7thplace while Keegan Olsen, Dylan Stopforth, Dickinson and Bernard Bussy sailed on Container World Challenge and finished 12th.  This was the first time that the Glenwood boys on Container World had sailed a regatta off Durban without Mr Pet on board.
