Simply Sailing Regatta
As part of the of the Durban International Boat Show, the Simply Sailing Regatta was held in Durban harbour during the weekend of the 1st and 2nd of May 2010. Keegan Olsen, Dylan Stopforth and Michael Dickinson sailed with Mr Pet as part of the crew of the L26 Container World in the racing division.
The sailing on Saturday was tough as the wind gusted up to 18 knots at times. In the first race a bit of good fortune with a shipping movement allowed Container World to sneak into 2nd place across the line and 1st in the L26 class. In the second race the racing was close but Container World managed to repeat the result of the first race. At the end of the first day the handicap results confirmed Container World in 2nd place overall and the two 1st places in the L26 class put her clearly in the lead in the class.
The second day of the regatta dawned windless and the start of racing was postponed by 45 minutes. When the wind filled in the third race got underway with Container World quickly following the trend set in the first two races. With each of the three laps, the lead in the L26 class was extended and she finished the race in 2nd place over the line and again 1st in the L26 class. The fourth race was a copy of the third with a repeat of the results.
After calculating the handicap results, Container World was placed 2nd overall in the racing class and 1st overall in the L26 class for all four races.
