Harold Blanksby was a member of the academic staff, having trained as a teacher in Australia.
He immigrated to South Africa and taught at Hilton College before joining the staff of the School in 1914. When hostilities broke out he joined up with the 2nd SAI Battalion and was killed in action, along with two other Old Boys at Fampoux, France. He was a noted sportsman, was well-known and especially well-liked by the boys whom he taught. He left his wife and a young daughter who later returned to Australia.
