Cricket Academy

The Glenwood Cricket Academy was established in 2002. The Cricket Academy is run according to guidelines given to us by some of the South African Cricket Franchises. It has been designed to assist our cricketers in reaching their true potential at a much faster rate and at the same time maintaining their academic standards.

The sessions take place every morning from 7am-8:30am. The programme ensures the boys improve not only on skill but also their conditioning and mental toughness. The boys also receive a meal replacement supplement after each session which aids them in maintaining their energy levels throughout the day. The programme as proved to be a major success, producing many KZN and SA schools representatives in recent years. Recent successes are Mthokosizi Shezi (South Africa, Dolphins, and Cobras), Cody Chetty (South Africa “A”, Dolphins), Andile Phehlukwayo (South Africa “A”, Dolphins), Prenalin Subrayen (Dolphins), and Brandon Scullard (Dolphins). They have all been through the academy system and are all now contracted professionals. In addition to our Cricket Academy we have introduced an Elite Cricket Programme.

Boys who have been identified as future Proteas and Franchise players are invited and train every morning from 7am-9:30am. This programme runs similarly to the Dolphins Cricket Academy. It gives the top cricketers in our school an insight of what it takes to be a professional sportsman.
