 Rugby: 1st XV @ Affies – Pretoria – Wildeklaver Tournament

Glenwood 9              Paarl Boys’ High 11

 

The Glenwood 1st XV led for most of the game which was played in the mud up at Affies against Paarl Boys' High. A defensive error at the death let Paarl in for a try and there was not enough time for Glenwood to score again. A disappointing loss for the Team but they played well in tough conditions.

Glenwood Results for the week ending 25 April 2010

Cross Country

Glenwood competed in the first league run of the year. The run was held at the UKZN fields, and was well attended and supported. The results will be released next Wednesday.

Soccer

Glenwood 1st XI competed against Alexandra on Wednesday afternoon, at Dokkies. The boys played well, unfortunately Alexandra was ahead 0 - 1 at half time. The boys struggled in the second half, and Alexandra managed to score two more goals in the second half. The final score was 0 – 3, with Alexandra winning the match.

Chess

Glenwood and Port Natal competed against each other on Friday Afternoon. Glenwood did very well, winning all the matches. The final result was 10 boards to 0.

Surfing

Friday afternoon saw the Glenwood A Team take part in the school surfing league at Snake Park. The boys had a roaring session, catching some good waves, and impressing the judges in their heat. This league is platform to expose young surfers to the competition arena.  Results from Friday’s heat will be released shortly. The B team competed in their heat last week, and were placed third, behind the Amanzimtoti A team, and the George Campbell A team.

Tennis

The 4th tennis team competed against the Pinetown 1st team on Saturday morning. Pinetown beat Glenwood narrowly, winning 5-4.

Volleyball

The Glenwood volleyball teams competed in the Westville league on Saturday. The U19 team beat Pinetown 31-26. The U16 team played two games, beating New Forest 33-31, and losing to Kingsway by only one point, 29-30. The U14 team lost to Westville 22-48.

The Target Shooting Team also shot this weekend. Parktown travelled down to Durban and shot against Glenwood. Glenwood won positions 1 through 4 in the junior event. E. Garvie won the U16 Springer class and I Texeira was 2nd in the Sporter class.
