Glenwood Old Boy Jordy Smith continues to make ‘waves’ on the World Surf League (WSL), Championship Tour (CT).
He is currently ranked 7th on the leaderboard after a very tough first three stops on the tour. The surfer’s are now on the Australian Leg of the tour after, unfortunately, canceling various stops usually taken, including South Africa’s very infamous Jeffreys Bay. However, he continues to make us proud with well deserved results.
Another big achievement is the inclusion of Jordy in the first Olympic Surfing contest. He qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics, after finishing 3rd on the Jeep Leaderboard in 2019. He went into the final event in Hawaii with a mathematical chance of winning the world title was unfortunately eliminated early, which meant he eventually finished third. The Olympics are set to take place at the end of the year because of the postponement due to COVID-19.
Meanwhile, after some big swell and very unpredictable conditions, Jordy has just made Quarter Finals at the Margaret River Pro expected to be concluded on the 8/04/2021.
We, his brothers in green, would like to wish him the best of luck and are confident he will do Glenwood, and our passionate country proud.
