Engineering Graphics & Design Studio
Glenwood prides itself on advanced EGD facilities. The CAD lab, equipped with desktops running Autodesk software like AutoCAD and Inventor, teaches boys valuable CAD drawing skills. Additionally, a 3D printer enhances interactive learning, allowing students to creatively bring their designs to life.
Mike Maher Media Centre
The vibrant Media Centre is the heart of the School that encourages a love for reading and integrates technology to serve its users in an efficient and multi-functional manner. Mike Maher was Glenwood's Headmaster from 1982 – 1997.
Gordon Murray Room
Glenwood old boy, Ian Gordon Murray CBE is a South African-born British designer of Formula One racing cars and the McLaren F1 road car. The Gordon Murray Room is a conference/teaching space with a television and internet connection inside the Media Centre.
Warren Clewlow STEM Centre
Warren Clewlow (Class of 1953) practiced as a Chartered Accountant before joining Barlow Rand in 1963. He has chaired Barlow Rand, Nedbank, and Standard Bank, and is active with the Nelson Mandela Foundation and others. Dedicated to Glenwood, the Warren Clewlow STEM Centre teaches IT, Computer Literacy, Virtual Reality, and Robotics. Grade 8 students learn computing basics, Microsoft Suite, and coding. Grades 9-12 advance to HTML, CSS, Delphi, SQL, Python, Arduino, and 4IR technologies.
Victor Daitz Science Centre
The Victor Daitz Science Centre, opened by Mr. B. Moshal and Mr. A. Benn in 2011, features state-of-the-art equipment and individual ecosystems. It supports social awareness initiatives and offers both Cambridge and mainstream students hands-on science experiences.
Cambridge
Glenwood High School offers the Cambridge curriculum, with exams by the University of Cambridge International Examinations board. Art Studio
Glenwood has a studio that is equipped for the teaching and learning of Visual Arts. Boys are given the chance to experiment with a wide range of media and are supported in their endeavors by our motivated and enthusiastic staff.
Drama Studio
The Drama Studio is equipped with a simple PA system and some LED parcan lights. This studio is equipped to host productions and double as the drama classroom. Boys are taught in a performance orientated space better equipping them for the transition to stage.








Toppy Hortop Squash Courts
Named after the legendary "Toppy" Hortop who recently celebrated more than 50 years of teaching at Glenwood. Toppy is an avid squash player. Our four squash courts are a hive of activity which includes internal Ladder fixtures as well as a squash academy and League Squash.
Wayne Usher Gym
The Wayne Usher (Class of 1982) Gym with high-specification, modern equipment designed specifically for functional performance excellence. The gym has been designed by a biokineticist and high-performance exercise specialist.
Memorial Swimming Bath
The War Memorial Swimming Bath was opened on 29 July 1951 and has been revamped over the years. The pool was originally dug by hand by boys attending school at the time. The sand was used to level out what is now Basson's field.
Three Schools Trust
Glenwood High School, together with Durban Girls High and Penzance Primary, are part of the “Three Schools Trust” which is responsible for the Astroturf at 17 Acton Rd, Umbilo. This Astroturf affords our boys the opportunity to play on the latest technology of Astroturf Management.





Other Venues
Up And Under Coffee Shop
Up and Under caters to all, offering breakfasts, cooked meals for the boys, lunches, as well as a variety of snacks. The coffee shop is also open to parents and old boys during the day and home game match days.
Collar And Cuff Memorabilia Shop
The School uniform shop is located inside the Up and Under Coffee Shop. An extensive selection of School clothing, bags, shoes and Supporters' Gear is available. Glenwood Memorabilia is always on sale.
Mvinjelwa Johannes Mhlongo School Hall
The current School Hall was one of the most significant additions in 1976-1977, to replace the rather cramped school hall in the Old Block that could no longer house the whole school for assemblies. The hall is known as the Mvinjelwa Johannes Mhlongo Hall in recognition of Glenwood's longest-serving Staff member, 1948 - 1996.
Mike Turrell Pavilion
The building was completed in August 2000 and named after Mike Turrell, previously the Chairman of the Old Boys' Association and Treasurer of eThekwini Municipality, as well as the driving force behind building the Pavilion. The building uniquely affords views of the fields, and the pool and houses a gym and a 60-seater conferencing facility.
Ivan Clark Pavilion
In celebration of Glenwood’s centenary in 2010, a decision was taken to source funding for an Old Boys’ Pavilion. Thus the Ivan Clark Pavilion was built on the main field behind the poles on the Alan Paton road side of the field, this entrance is now known as the Centenary Gate. The ground floor consists of a changing room for both cricket and rugby with an ice bath. Additional rooms are occupied by Para-Medical Practitioners on Campus. The second floor consists of a huge entertainment and viewing area recently renovated by Mr. Ivan Clark and is open to the public on match days. Ivan Clark, an alum, retired as Grindrod chairman in 2014.
