Scholarships
Glenwood High School offers a limited number of Scholarships recognizing outstanding achievement in Academics, Culture, and Sports, made possible by the generous contributions of our alumni. Eligible candidates are chosen based on the following criteria:
Academic scholarships are awarded to a select few of the top academic achievers at the end of their Grade 8 year.
Cultural scholarships are usually awarded retrospectively, based on the learner’s commitment and cultural talent evident during his Grade 9 year.
Sporting scholarships are awarded to a select few talented boys who are performing at a provincial (or higher) level.

Transport
Bus tickets need to be purchased upfront for the month, and a ticket will be issued by the School. Please note that should boys not produce the bus ticket, they will not be allowed on the bus. As space is limited it is on a first-come, first-serve basis and once all tickets purchased for that month are sold, there will not be any tickets available until the following month. Should the bus not be filled, casual tickets can be purchased the day before the use of the bus, no ticket = no ride.
PAYMENT OPTIONS:
PAYMENTS FOR BUS TICKETS CAN ONLY BE MADE VIA CARD OR CASH AT THE FINANCE OFFICE. YOU MAY COLLECT THE TICKET AT THE SAME TIME.
NO EFT PAYMENTS WILL BE ACCEPTED. ANY BUS FEES RECEIVED BY EFT WILL BE ALLOCATED TO SCHOOL FEES.
NO TICKET WILL BE ISSUED UNTIL THE PAYMENT IS REFLECTING IN THE ACCOUNT, THEREFORE NO TRAVEL PERMITTED WITHOUT A TICKET.
The payments will be issued over an 11-month period, January and July will be half month payments, and February, March, April, May, June, August, September, October, November will be full monthly payments.

AMANZIMTOTI BUS SERVICE – 2024
Glenwood High School runs a school bus service to Amanzimtoti as follows:
Seadoone: Departs Checkers 06h10. The afternoon departure is at 17h10, dropping off at the Total Garage, Beach Road and Seadoone Mall after 17h30 (Traffic depending).
Amanzimtoti: Departs from the Toti Civic Centre at 06h30. The afternoon departure is at 17h10, dropping off at the Total Garage, Beach Road and Seadoone Mall after 17h30 (Traffic depending).
Athlone Park: Departs from the Athlone Park Shopping Centre at 06h40. The afternoon departure is at 17h10, dropping off at the Shopping Centre after 17h30 (Traffic depending).
On the odd occasion that your son plays sports away from Glenwood and is going to return after 17h10, kindly make alternate transport arrangements as the bus cannot be delayed for one boy.
Bus tickets need to be purchased up front for the month, and a ticket will be issued by the School. Please note that should boys not produce the bus ticket, they will not be allowed on the bus. Bus will arrive at La Lucia Library at 06h00 and depart at 06h10 for Glenwood Old Boys (Riverside Club), departs at this location at 06h30 and drives to school via Lilian Ngoyi Road (Windermere Road), Morningside. It is estimated that he will reach the 1st stop on Windermere road at 06h45 moving onto Sutton Park, Windermere Shopping Centre, departing 06h50 making its way via Essenwood Road and Cowey Road to school. The estimated time of arrival at school is 07h10. The bus returns on the same route, leaving school at 17h10.

HIGHWAY / PINETOWN / DAWNCLIFFE BUS SERVICE – 2024
Glenwood High School runs a school bus service to Highway, Pinetown and Dawncliffe areas as follows:
Due to the high demand for this route and our limited space, we introduced two busses daily for the Pinetown
route, however please be aware that this is dependent on bus capacities and can be changed should we make
changes to our fleet. Details below for departure / arrival times for Bus 1 and Bus 2 for Pinetown route.
Pinetown Route:
1st bus: Departs from Shell Garage (Opp. Knowles Centre) Cnr St Johns Avenue & Bamboo Lane at 06h10 via
Durban North — Estimated time of arrival at school at 07h30.
Departs from school at 15h00 – 15h30 and will only go as far as Pinetown.
2nd bus: To assist with the overflow, the HW bus will arrive at approx. 06h20 but space is limited on this bus and
therefore the majority will go on the earlier bus. Those boys that did not make it onto the 1st bus will only have to
wait about 10 mins.
Departs from school at 17h10 following the entire route back to Highway.
NB: ALL BOYS must be at the collection point before 06h10, the 1st bus will collect as many boys as possible
and depart at 06h10. The second bus has limited space, will arrive approx. 06h20 (the overflow boys will only
have to wait 10 mins).
Highway/Dawncliffe:
Departs from Shell Garage (opposite Oxford), Hillcrest at 06h00 and departs from the Shell Garage, Pioneer
Road, Kloof at 06h15.
Makes its way to Shell Garage (Opp. Knowles Centre) Cnr St Johns Avenue & Bamboo Lane, Pinetown to arrive
at approx. 06h20 (See Pinetown route info above).
It will then go onto Dawncliffe and departs from Blair Athol Off/Onramp (At old Westville Centre) at 06h35.
The bus returns on the same route, leaving school at 17h10.

You have several options to apply for your son:
Please note that applications close in September of the Grade 7 year.
Prospective pupils will be contacted for an interview. Not all applicants will be granted an interview. All applicants will be notified by post of the status of their application.
NOTE: The Application Form will not be dealt with until the administration fee is paid and all the relevant supporting documents have been submitted. The payment of the Administration Fee is to cover the costs of processing the application only.
